NovaEcon exists because we found something that worked for A-Level Economics, and did not want it to disappear the moment we left sixth form.
We were among the very few students in our year to get an A* in A-Level Economics, and it was not always supposed to end up that way. We were both predicted a grade A by the end of Year 12, and could not think of a way to improve it. We were also not satisfied with how we were taught, as our teacher barely covered exam technique, which we knew we needed.
This is not what we expected coming into one of the best sixth forms in the UK as externals. Our teacher not having the same belief in us as we did was not helpful, yet that never stopped us. We contacted the only two people in the year above us who actually got an A*, consulted them multiple times throughout the year, and devised our own precise method for each question type of each paper. We followed it exactly, and we achieved 90 plus percent in our final exams.
We noticed that the best way to acquire the strategy and technique behind an A* in A-Level Economics is by directly knowing, and being able to talk to, someone who has done it before. Not everyone has the privilege of being able to do so. NovaEcon is us closing the gap we had to close ourselves, so the next student does not have to search as hard as we did to find someone who can actually show them how.
The most strategic route, not the longest one
Effort is not the constraint for most students. Direction is. Every plan we write starts by removing work that does not move a mark.
Say the honest thing
If a lighter level of support is enough, we say so. If a university choice is unrealistic with the current grades, we say that too.
Access over polish
The single thing that changed our results was being able to ask someone who had done it. That is what we protect first.
